Preparing a Power Point

I've spent several hours today preparing a power point for a presentation I'm giving to a travel group on Monday. Although Australia is New Zealand's closest neighbour, many of the people in the group I'm speaking to have not made many trips there. They spend their money going further afield, to Britain and Europe, or Asian countries. But Australia is a huge continent and I am enjoying getting to know it better, instead of just sticking with the main centres. I've enjoyed revisiting the photos and notes I made on my trip earlier this year and am looking forward to talking to this group. Maybe I'll convince them that Australian rail travel is worth the effort. The photo of the Ghan engine above was taken late afternoon on the last full day of my trip at Manguri Siding near Coober Pedy.

That will be a very interesting talk I'm sure. It would be nice if you can convince a few others that Australia is worth a visit.

@JudyEv I quite like the cities too, especially Melbourne and Adelaide. Mind you Melbourne has as many people as the whole of NZ.

They go to the cities, but this group have set ideas about what constitutes real culture. I'm all for down under myself.

@valmnz I'd skip the cities every time for the country roads.

@valmnz Now that I have reached the ripe old age of 60 I get to travel on all trains in Northern Ireland free. That extends to all of Ireland when I am 65.

Australia is a huge continent and there is enough there to see lasting a life time. The few days that I spent there I had quite an experience. A train journey would have been great too. I did that when I was in the US, I had the Amtrak experience.

Great photo and what lovely memories. Did you get much time in Coober Pedy? I would have loved to have looked into someone's underground home!
