Diary Diary 25th November 2018 A quiet one today, with just a short shopping trip to get me out of the flat. Otherwise, a day of writing and watching TV. Diary Monday 26th November 2018 With the conflicts at the community centre regarding their lack of respect for my voluntary work there (leading to my withdrawing all future services there) it was great to get back to the university based voluntary work, where helped with social work students and offered a short talk on my cult experiences in the 1980's. The volunteers were given lunch for free for helping out. I was also invited to help out again tomorrow on the campus in Burnley. At home I got two letters from the council. The first told me that I qualify for short term support for my rent. This was confusing as it seems to offer me me the amount required by me monthly, but pays it weekly. It adds that any over-payment (as this would be) must be paid back. The second letter invited me to arrange an interview with the council to sort out just such payments. I e-mailed them to say the payments have already been granted. The council worker handling my case replied alarmingly that she knows this, but wants to see me to arrange to help me move to cheaper accommodation. I now realize that reducing my rent support is aimed at driving me out of my house to save the council money. I wrote back that I have no intention of moving out. They told me that I have every right to that choice. My support wiil run out in April next year. Diary Tuesday 27th November 2018 A cold, and later very wet day as I got a lift to the Burnley campus for a second day of voluntary work and talking on my cult experiences. Thanks to Lisa and Maggie for giving me a lift there and back. I did embarrass myself at one point by leaning against a wall that proved to be a sliding folding partition. I almost fell through it. Organisations can be very sneaky when they want you to do something. If they force you to move out, won't someone else go in who also needs support?

@JudyEv no, I have a private landlord. It would be his choice who moves in

@JudyEv they pay the rent to me to pass on to my landlord - they used to pay straight to the landlord - they are supposed to cover all my housing costs but they resent it if I don't move to the cheapest possible residence

@arthurchappell So I don't quite understand what Social Security has to do with your rent or do they subsidise a percentage?

I'm guessing that you're not exactly living in a huge place as it is.

@asfarasiknow no, my flat is quite small, but I like it for that - easy to keep tidy

@m_audrey6788 I may get a lot less income to support me staying in my home but I should be able to avoid moving

@arthurchappell Better to know so that you have immediately let them know that it's not your intention to move.

@Courage7 they'll either stop the support or severely reduce it so times could get hard

@arthurchappell It is unconscionable Arthur for them to be doing this. They have literally killed people with their cuts.

@arthurchappell I am so sorry you are under such stress Arthur. They ought to be ashamed of themselves, no consciences I tell you none no compassion or understanding either.

"We want you to go through the big hassle of moving all of your stuff to a crappy place just to save us a few bucks. Or else." Sounds like typical government.
