My sister and her husband were in town this week and we planned to go out for a steak meal at a local restaurant, along with my sister-in-law. However, when we tried to make a reservation at a couple of our favourite places they were booked out with large workplace Christmas party groups.
So, there was nothing for it, we decided to have an at home fish and chips take-away meal. We phoned through the order for five people, then my sister and I went to pick it up. The lady at my local take-away shop laughed, asking was I feeding other people tonight, as our usual order is much smaller.
We had a fantastic family night, eating fish and chips, drinking wine and talking non-stop. The best part though, the meal cost each of us about a quarter of what we might have paid had we eaten and ordered wine at a restaurant.

I love to eat chips with vinegar. I don't eat fish because I am a vegan person. In my local town they have a chip shop that sells a portion of chips for £1.00. It is close to the pier and there is a row of benches outside. By the pier it can get rather cold and windy therefore around the corner is much better. Now it is winter they have reduced their timetable to the weekend only and they don't open if the weather is rainy. At home I cook chips and are never as nice at that chip shop.
