3 days starting last Friday, my daughter had a fever. Her temperature ranges 38.1 to 39.1 degrees Centigrade. After two days of fever and two doctor, she developed the dry cough and runny nose.
Last Sunday, we had the Dengue test and the complete blood count and platelet test to determine if here platelets is decreasing which is an indication of dengue.
We were relieved to know that the test was negative. But her white blood cells (WBC) has decreased also. That means, she caught a nasty viral infection.
Now because of the coughing, her throat is irritated. Yesterday, the pediatrician gave her antibiotics.

@rakski found out that blood tests are common nowadays in clinics and hospitals. This is to rule out dengue when kids are admitted.

If it is viral infection, why did the doctor prescribe antibiotics?
