Is there any such thing as a perfect mother? I don't believe there is. I think there are mothers who would like to be perfect, who try to be perfect, but who are not perfect. To tell the truth I don't think that there is anything that can be defined as perfect. Besides, do you really want to be perfect? Think of how it would be if we were all perfect human beings. Boring!!! The only thing we can do as a mother is to do the best we know how. Love our children, set good examples for them, and try to guide them into being the best that they can be. What do you think?

I agree with @CarolDM, nobody is perfect and wanting (or pretending) to be perfect is wrong.

@LadyDuck trying to be perfect is like trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

Nobody is perfect in this world. We can be the best person we can be, and that is all we can do.

@HazySue Wouldn't it be great if we could be more perfect perhaps.

I am sure he does. He seems to be well adjusted and he didn't get that way by accident.

We can only do our best. God did give mothers a guideline in Proverbs 31. I know I fall short of the guideline.

I think a bit of training about motherhood (and fatherhood) wouldn't go astray. Most of us go into it with very few skills.

@HazySue Some schools here hand out plastic type babies which are programmed to cry for long periods in the middle of the night blah blah. I think they are a good idea too. The boys get given them too I think although I don't know a lot about it.

@JudyEv At our Middle School they had a project in Home Ec that involved baby dolls like that. It was quite interesting how the students reacted to have a baby that "needed" them 24/7.

I often wonder if having a training pe4rmit to train you before you do have a baby.

There are mothers who seem to instinctively know what needs to be done and said and there are mothers who don't even try.

I think that we all worry that we could have done better. I know that my own mom always did. And I followed in her path. But maybe too protective at times??

Most mothers want and strive to be perfect, but of course we can't be. We just try to be the best person we can be.

I believe that no such person is perfect either. But at least be a good and responsible Mother. At least not perfect.
