Whatever You Say, Dear

It's not that I am not a big boy and cannot dress myself. But for whatever reason my wife always nay-nays my clothing choices. That's so 1970. That looks like a grandpa sweater. My God, they will think you are Freddy Krueger. Are you actually going to wear THAT? So tonight we are going out for my company Christmas party, and lo and behold, my outfit is laid out on the bed for me to wear. I will just put on what she tells me to put on. I will be a good little boy and don whatever she decides. After thirteen years together I just nod my head and say, "Yes dear. Whatever you say dear." By the way, TRUST ME, the pants she is wearing DO NOT make her ass look big. Just take my word for it.

ah, so what you are saying is, she's trained you well? Honestly, I'm female and sometimes I need someone to tell me what to wear.

She probably wishes she had trained me better. I still don't do the laundry or the dishes. But I do cook, and I do take the trash out. Well, the trash mostly. I am not nearly as helpful around the house as she'd prefer, that's for sure.

@porwest Cooking every once in awhile should earn your brownie points, surely?

@ScribbledAdNauseum I am THE cook. If I don't cook she does not eat. But she watches football and I can't stand it. Go figure.

Who buys your clothes, you or your wife? I guess you should consider yourself lucky. She could just put up with how you look and not say anything but she CARES for you!

@porwest At least you are aware of that! You don't like what she buys for you?

I mostly buy them. But she does come home with something for me every once in a while. Some of the things she buys me do tend to collect dust in my closet though. She DEFINITELY cares for me, and I am DEFINITELY a lucky man.

@mysdianait It depends. Our tastes are a little different. I always thank her though. But obviously she knows when I don't like something when it never gets worn.

I TRY my best to be. She has something I want, you know. And she may not give it to me if I don't behave.

I hope you have a great time at the party. =) I tell my husband what to wear when it's somewhere fancy since he never wears dress clothes anywhere.

Most men, I think, do the same. "Yes dear." You women have a LOT of power you know. No matter how much a man thinks he is king of the house, the queen has something those kings want very badly, and the women get to decide when we can have it or not.

It's not that men are missing an Appropriate Attire gene, it's....it's...well, maybe they are. But that's what women were created for. Along with cooking, cleaning, romancing, working....oh, good grief, don't get me started. Enjoy your party and all the compliments you'll get on your holiday outfit.

Just because a man believes it is schnazzy to wear a suit and tie with a ball cap and sneakers does NOT mean we don't have an appropriate attire gene. But I think you are right. My wife does most of the cleaning, the laundry, the dishes...as far as romancing it's true I just want to hop in the bed and get right down to business while she wants a little more than that. I do the cooking though. I at least do that.

You have figured out what many men in the world can't quite understand. Gotta keep momma happy. If momma ain't happy, then nobody's happy

@porwest Unfortunately, THAT should never be used as a punishment or reward for good or bad behavior, but sadly that is the reality of the world we live in. And they say men run this planet. I beg to differ.

You could spend the entire time at the party taking note of everything she eats and tell her; "Honey, do you REALLY need to eat that? How many of those have you had already sweetheart? You know there is over 2000 calories in one slice of that..." Then put your santa claus hat on. Have fun!
