Themed Presents?

I was thinking of bringing that up with my friends this year. I bought my best friend and her husband both gifts that are consumable. I bought one of our other friends a mug, and while it isn't consumable it holds consumables. Have you ever given themed gifts? Whether that be at an office gift exchange, birthday, Christmas etc? Obviously for holidays like Easter, every gift is themed. I was thinking that having a theme would help people decide what to get each other. One year it could be something food related, another year it could be something related to a television show that you both like. Has anyone done this?

I never did it, but it was very interesting, so I really wanted to do it

Yes, I think it would be a lot of fun to do. I will have to talk to my friends and see if they would want to do something like that. We pick a theme each year and we all give gifts based on that.

@KOLAMsegaran1 Yes, Gifts that are useful. Children like to have toys and the such, but as we get older all we really want is the things we need. It allows us to get the things we want for ourself, when we are gifted the things we need.

I don't think I have ever done that, but it sounds like a cool idea!

I thought so too. Something that would also help with the picky people on the shopping list. If there's an agreed upon theme, it will be somewhat easier to decide what to get.

Although we never made it official, I guess I did this with my skating friends . . . we just gave each other skating themed gifts (easier for the winter holiday gift giving). I do always get one of my close friends "penguin" stuff as her wedding was penguin themed - her husband probably blames me for all the penguin stuff they have around their house .

@ScribbledAdNauseum My friend literally did have a penguin themed wedding . . . my husband designed the penguin logos for their invitations and paper stuff (2 black and white penguins with a touch of yellow). Her mom had a fit and said it was ridiculous . Ohhh, I can see banquet servers looking like penguins ! I do like the idea of themed gifts. Although I am trying to think of gifts for all our teachers. I don't think teachers care for teacher themed gifts - they probably get enough of that all year 'round!

Oh no, penguin stuff? I used to work as a banquet server and we had to dress up like a penguin. Not literally, but I mean black and white with a bow tie. We always called ourselves penguins. Yeah, I am sure I've done that as well, giving gifts in a certain theme unintentionally. This will be the second year in a row that i've done it now that I think about it.

I think, even if no one else I know does it, I'll probably do so.

does starbucks gift card in a starbucks reusable cup with some coffee flavored candy count as a gift theme?

Now you are just making me crave coffee, and I'm not that big of a coffee drinker. Yes, I think it does.

Not really, unless you count wrapping batteries and a present seprately..I think a themed gift is a cool idea though.

Nope, wouldn't count wrapping batteries and a present separately as being themed. I mean,I get what your saying though. I've had gifts given to me like that before and it does follow a theme. Yeah, I think it would be fun. Get together before buying a present and put ideas into a hat along with the amount to spend, it could be fun.

I haven't done this but having a themed gift giving sounds like fun.

I feel like it would also help give people what they actually want and will use.

I don't think I've ever given a theme gift, because I prefer giving a gift to someone by treating him to eat

Well that's a theme in itself, isn't it? You always do it, so it's a theme.
