Hello everyone.
He is finally out of the ICU.
I am talking about my husband's cousin's husband who had a near fatal motorcycle accident.
After 16 days in ICU, 5 surgeries, 21 hours total in the operating room, he was finally out at the ICU and into a regular room. A fraction of his cranium or skull is still in his stomach for a few more weeks before they will close it again. This is to make sure no more re-bleeding in the brain will occur.
Finally, he was seen and touched by his youngest (5 years old) who is not allowed in ICU. Visitors are limited.
We are still praying that there will be no complications.
Attached photo is his mother and siblings on one side and his family on the other side.

I'm glad he's out and hope he makes a full recovery. Interestingly enough, my husband also has a cousin who's husband drives a motorcycle.
He insists that he's always in full control and apparently thinks he's Mr. Invincible. Ironically, he told us recently that while he was on his bike someone in a car, or truck, started to drift in his lane.
It wouldn't take much to end up in the ICU or worse.

@rakski You can be the best but you are never in total control as long as there are others around.

yes, i believe a part of his cranium is in his belly so it can still be nourished with the blood vessels. when he will be operated on again, the surgeons will remove that part of his cranium out of his tummy for reconstruction of his skull. just like some patients we handled at medical intermediate care unit.
