I´m not a dude nor a buddy.

I like to have friends everywhere, including online. And I don´t mind the age group of my friends, their genre or their culture. But one thing that pisses me is to be called 'dude' or 'buddy'. I have my age stated in my profile. And I deserve some respect for that and for my genre. I understand that at least 'dude' is a word you use when addessing to men. I have told you that when burglars entered my house last year, I accepted to have my house burglarized but not to be treated without respect. That is my own way of having my very own 'me too' movement. What do you think about it?

Why would anyone call you dude or buddy when you are a lady?

I wish I knew. They have a picture of myself there (although it is ages old) and I have stated my age in my profile.

I think I wrote a post about that once. I was called a "dude" by a young salesperson - and I did not appreciate that. I guess the generation would say everyone calls everyone that - but I don't particularly like it. "Buddy" seems to be used on young kids here - I don't use that word either.

To begin with, buddy is a familiar term, no matter what your age. I did not like it.

I know that this happens, because several young users called me dude, buddy and bro (ridiculous, from my avatar they see I am not a man). I also remember the post written by @much2say on this.

@marguicha I think that the avatar is enough to show that we are not "kids" or young boys.

How old are you, Danna? I´m 73 and when I was younger those were very familiar words you used with male friends you knew for a long time. I don´t like to be called 'bro´, 'dude' or ´buddy'. Not even by my offline friends, my daughters or my older grandchildren.

Words differ in each generation. You did not estate your age in your profile. How old are you, if I may ask?

@Janet357 I´m 73. That´s why I think the words dude or buddy don´t suit me. Besides, I´m also a woman and I also think that those words refer more to men than to women. But I might be wrong.

I'm not fussed about being called 'dear' or any other endearments really.

Some are better than others. Specially depending on age.
