After the Philippine bet won the most coveted title in the world of pageant, the press/news were non-stop.
I saw one newspaper in Australia crossing out Philippines on their headline feature.
The picture showed Miss Philippines but the word Philippines has an X on it and below it is the world Queensland.
Netizen burst with anger for this claim.
One comment said, Catriona Gray, the new Miss Universe from the Philippines, does not have an Australian blood. Her father is Scottish and her mother is a pure-blooded Filipino.
Why they put an X to the country she represented?

Its not like Filipinos never claim every Filipino American American idol contestants. it is not like Filipinos are not claiming Bruno Mars and Nicole Scherzinger despite of not talking about their lineage unless in front of Filipino media.

@jobelbojel They claim them with matching "proud to be filipino" and "Pinoy pride" Then try to inform every foreigner they are Filipino.

Filipinos do claim that they are half. But not to the point of removing America on their title.

They should totally change the rules if that is the case. I know, the previous Miss Guam was a half Filipino but she represented Guam.
And Miss Universe 2015 (Pia of the Philippines) was half German, half Filipino. But we did not hear claims from the Germans.

@jobelbojel I know that the previous Filipina Miss Universe for was half German, born and raised in Germany. They are no more representative of their own country.

I know an English lady that moved to Australia with her husband and children. When she arrived she became Australian because she now comes from that country. In Australia I met an American man and he said he emigrated to the USA from Germany. His name sounds particularly German. He told me he has two passports. One is American and the other is German. My ex husband was Australian and due to his mum he has an Irish passport. When I last talked to him he was living in China. Poor Miss World. She is from Australia now. I know she has a Scottish dad and a Filipino mother. In Australia some lucky foreigners manged to move there and become Australian.

It is all about respect. The Miss chose to represent the Philippines. She represented the Philippines in the Miss World and finished in top 5. But Australia did not make any noise about her finish. And now that she won the Miss Universe, there are news like this.

A responsible media should not do this and publish to the world.
They do not care about the company image. When the news go viral, people will label them as childish, both countries has their own contestant to compete in the competition. Eventually, only one being selected from top to the miss universe.
Is this not consider fair? Is not then, they are challenging the organization selection criteria and transparency.

that is really unfair, so these Australians should believe what Miss Universe chooses as her nationality, and she chose Philippines over Australia.

@jobelbojel i believe the Aussies were not satisfied with where their candidate landed in the top,; besides, their contestant was one of the 3 who gave racist remarks on 2 Asian beauties.
