Time now for the heaviest of hitters on the list as I count down my favorite bands with Colorado ties. We are at #3: the legendary Earth, Wind & Fire.
"What the hell are you talking about? Earth, Wind & Fire are from Chicago!" you are probably yelling right about now. Yes, they are, but they did record their 1974 album, Open Our Eyes, and part of their soundtrack to the 1975 movie, That's the Way of the World, at Caribou Ranch Studios in Nederland, Colorado. "Yeah? Deep Purple recorded Machine Head in Switzerland. Doesn't make them FROM there! Idiot."
Ok. I get your point. But check it out: You know that guy with the thrilling falsetto, co-lead vocalist Philip Bailey? The dude that sang "Reasons," and "Fantasy?" He was born and raised here in Denver. So were keyboardist Larry Dunn and saxophonist Andrew Woolfolk (both of whom absolutely shined on "Sun Goddess" on EWF's live album, Gratitude.)
All three of them attended East High School, which I drive past all the time when I'm on East Colfax Avenue. (Other East High alums include actor Don Cheadle, singer Judy Collins, actress Pam Grier, and actress Hattie McDaniel.)
Earth, Wind & Fire have won multiple Grammy Awards, and are in the Rock and Roll, Songwriters, and Vocal Group Halls of Fame. And none other than the Master himself, Miles Davis, declared EWF to be his favorite band.
So there you go. Denver, baby, Denver!

I figure that three key members being from here counts as a Colorado tie!

Somehow I'm thinking Judy Collins won't make your list. Even if she's looked at East High from both sides now.

You stated an excellent case for EW&F being Colorado natives, prosecutor.... Not a fan, but did like this very recognizable song payed by DJ's during the disco period
"Sing a Song" is a well known hit song by R&B/funk band Earth, Wind & Fire. Released from their 1976 double live LP, Gratitude, it spent two weeks at number ...

What's funny is that they weren't a disco band. But this right here proves that they could do it better than anybody!

@dgobucks226 - I saw them in 1981. They were dressed the same way!
