I needed a haircut but the barber was closed

I have been having my hair cut at the same barber for many years now. It is a small one-man (one-woman actually) business tucked away in a back street and I have always had good service there accompanied by a cheery smile and the latest gossip from the area. Just before Christmas I went for my usual visit only to find that the barber shop was closed. This was most inconvenient since the next nearest barber shop is in the opposite direction from my home. Not only that but it is part of a larger chain of barber shops and is a bit up-market from my usual place - and they charge more! Not that I'm a skinflint or anything but I would rather give my money to a small local business which relies on local trade and not to any type of chain store with its faceless corporate image. I guess I'll postpone my haircut until my usual place is open again. Photo from Pixabay
