Indonesia is the largest south east asian country. we have so many tropical fruit and of them is endangered species because the plantation for them and no body grow them anymore. it is one of the most popular fruit in indonesia and malaysia. it is “rambutan” which literally means hairy, "rambut" is hair in indonesian and malay. it is like a small red ball with hair. it is sweet fruit and watery too. malaysian also call it rambutan.

We can buy them in some of the grocery stores here, although they're pretty expensive. My kids love them.

It's only now that I've know from you that rambutan comes from the word "rambut" which means hairy. Rambutan also grows in our country but could it be that its origin is from Indonesia, given that its name seems to come from your dialect?
