I Have a Fantastic New Year's Surprise! My Wound is Finally Healed

I fully expected to be still going to the wound clinic one to two more weeks and discovered today that my wound is finally healed and I won't need to go back again. The last little section didn't heal the same as the rest that healed in the past few weeks. I wonder whether we had stayed with the same treatment if the last smidgen of tissue to heal would have joined the rest and become flush with the surrounding flesh. Instead it's left a little dent which the nurse practitioner said is healed but will probably stay that way.
Still, no more bandaging, no more pain-that left the beginning of December, or at least the wound pain, and no more appointments.
Praise the Lord!!
Now I will be calling the knee surgeon to find out how quick I can get onto his schedule. I will have to work thirty days before going on leave again for the surgery and rehab, but I may try to work a bit longer than that so we can get some windows work done in the spring before I need to be off again.

I'm not actually dancing at present, but I'm relaying the news to friends and family as they wake up. Now, to take precautions against getting anymore of these.
One main thing I've changed is I won't scratch an itch on my foot or lower leg with my other foot anymore. I used to do that at night and also when working. I've talked with younger gals at the wound center and one said that she does that too, scratch her leg or foot with her shoe.
And I intend to wear support stocking the rest of my life as long as I can be flexible enough to don them myself.

Actually, the other morning I was going to put something on that little hole to see if it would help it rise to the surface like the surrounding tissue did once I used that product before, and after I cleaned it and looked closely, which is a bit difficult because of where it's located and mainly because of my weight gain and not being as limber any more, it appeared to be closer to the surface than it was. So, maybe the nurse wasn't completely accurate when she said it wouldn't heal any further. I'm hoping it continues to heal more over time.
And, yes, a little scar isn't all that bad, but I'm supposed to watch for changes in the skin in that area and it would be easier to tell what's going on if the bumps and rough spots healed up. I don't think I'd worry about that area, but eventually I may forget too.

@shaggin I got it for my knee, but it's so oily that I've not used it much.

Well, I'm quite sure I got the wound in the first place from scratching my ankle in the night with my other foot. I've not let myself do that since getting this. I no longer do it in the night nor in the day either. I was already wearing support stockings during the day before this happened and have taken to wearing them at night too. I did order a different type of support anklet that I might try now that the wound is gone. I may not be able to use them as they could be too tight, but we'll see.
Now that I have my speakers hooked up, I'm still listening to youtube and will share the one playing right now.

@responsiveme Me too. It made me think about finding and sharing some of my other favorites here. Thing is I'm never at a loss for something to say, but I suppose I could add it when I'm in the mood.
I ended up switching to listening to Christian songs. Quite a few of them played before it quit on it's own. My kids put several songs, when they were younger on youtube. Maybe I'll begin by sharing the link on a new post later when I've taken time to move about and clean a bit. I also need to check to make sure I've never shared it here before. If I did, I can include the link to that instead.

I've called their office and will have to wait for their return call. I don't know whether they will try to fit me in sooner or whether it will be another five months on the waiting list. Although, I am considering waiting until May/June again because with the warmer weather I can walk outside after surgery, and depending on how late spring is, we could get some people taken care of for our business before having to be off work again.
I do have to be at work at least one month before taking off again. (Not sure whether I said that above).

@LadyDuck I have an appointment set up for next month if it doesn't need to get moved back. I did discuss with them if the waiting list is still five months out for a replacement, but was told that's not the case. It may be because I've already been all through that last year. But, it sounds like getting the surgery right before summer may end up working out for me.

@responsiveme Here's the one I was talking about. My daughter told me the name of the song and I found the good link that way.
We heard the song from the movie Pitch Perfect, and really wanted to learn it. We ended up working on it for about 5 hours and started to lose function in ou...

Well, I actually expected to be healed from this within the first two months. And then, when that didn't happen I asked what was typical for this type of wound and was told six months. When that passed I found that for some people it can last a year or more. This lasted one year and three months. But, I was surprised that I needed no more appointments and that it finally happened.
When I did my wound care just that morning it was still lower than the surrounding skin, therefore I figured it would be another week or two before it was completely healed. It is nice I no longer have to figure out what to put on it anymore. Although, I might consider putting on one of the things I used a few weeks ago that allowed the area surrounding this last little part to heal up higher than this one did. Maybe that would get it flush with the surrounding area. I doubt it would hurt, but not sure yet whether I'll do that or not.

Well, my taking it easy may be coming to an end since I'll probably have to return to work sooner than I thought I would be. But, if I want to be off for my knee to be fixed, I need to work for at least a month before taking off again.
