Down here in the southern hemisphere we're in the middle of the summer months. Recently @JudyEv wrote about the last of the cherry season in her part of Australia. Cherries aren't grown in my part of New Zealand, but are brought in from two major growing areas in other parts of the country. This of course puts the price up. We too are approaching the end of the cherry season. For many of you this is winter and not cherry season. So, when I came across this lovely old postcard of a child with what I hope are cherries, I thought I'd share it with you. Do you like cherries when they are in season? Are they, like here, quite expensive? We buy ours a couple of times during the season as a treat.

These old postcards are so attractive aren't they? And so different to what you buy nowadays. And thanks for the mention.

Our weather really affected the cherries this year. And, yes,I'm a real fan of old postcards.

@JudyEv the book I'm working on is quite different, involving research of Wellington in the 19th century.

Yes, I like cherries when they are in season. They are always pretty expensive. It's not an easy job to pick up cherries.

@valmnz The good quality is extremely expensive. The past year I have not even bought once.

I love cherries. They aren't in season yet so I buy tart canned until they are.

Our cherries are expensive even when IN season and come from the USA. We love them, no matter the cost.

They look more like grapes than cherries. Cherries don't grow on a vine but a tree. I do my best to avoid cherries. I never liked them. I gladly give my share to those who appreciate them.
