I Thought I’d be the Last Patient to Be Served

Nope! There’s 2 more coming so I’m 3rd from the last. Regular patients might have some concern after the holiday season because they also set their appointment to the doctor. Lab tech told me to come back at 2 in the afternoon yesterday to get my X-ray result but the day before that, I’d forgotten to make an appointment to my doctor and just come there unannounced. When I arrived there and asked to have my name listed, the secretary told me that there were already 17 patients on the list. I became the 18th if I choose to be checked that day. Clinic hours begin at 1 in the afternoon so there were few patients yet being catered. She advised me that it would be better to come today and I’d be the 4th but I insisted to be included so that I won’t be coming back and my transaction for that day would be all done. Finally my turn came at 7:30 and finished at 8 in the evening. That was long, boring wait but that’s it. I’m just glad that there’s nothing much to worry about the results. Photo Credit: pixabay.com

It's boring waiting so long. When we need to see the doctor we call in advance to have an early appointment.

That should be Ms. Anna. I was not able to inform the secretary first to book thinking that the number of patient wouldn't reach like that. Usually, during the past years, there's only 5-6 when I have consultation with this doctor.

@LadyDuck That's still several days ahead Ms. Anna. Anyway, it's good to be the first to be served.

for me, i will be #7 on January 16, or #12 on the 17th. the doctor sees his patients at 2:30 PM and 30-45 minutes each patient. so, all scheduled patients should be seen on their days of appointment because if we postpone it, we will be the last in the queue.

My doctor also spent 30 minutes+ for his patient which is there's an advantage and little disadvantage..

Did you wait in the clinic or you went outside first to kill the time. When I had check up, I thought I was the 2nd patient. When I enlisted, I was the 4th on the list. I politely asked the secretary how come? She said the other 2 booked over the phone before me.

Most clinic really accept advance booking thru phone. I went to nearest restaurant to eat. If it's just near to the malls then I'll probably stay there.

@ZedSmart I understand you about having to wait. When I could not get an appointment to see the doctor but was on the waiting list and come and wait it was not much fun but if I needed to see my doctor then I waited and I waited a long time.

Thankfully and it was a relief but the long wait is one process that I overcome as well.
