Yay for me - I cooked something!

I love savoury nibbles whether its chips (crisps), olives, crackers, cheese, pate, dip. I wrote about a fancy hors d’oeuvres we made recently and this afternoon I tried another one that I found online. Again it features bacon, cheese, onion and puff pastry but they turned out quite well and taste good. However it’s hard to twist them with losing half the filling. I’m not sure if I’ll make them again or not. But they look quite good don’t you think? I can’t imagine why one seems to be missing on the tray.

They do look good. But it would be hard to twist them with the filling in them Could you flatten them out a little thinner and wider, then wrap it around the filling before twisting?

I could put more pastry over the top as that is how the camembert wheel was made or I might use strips of bacon rather than diced bacon.

@judyev I hope there are some such nibbles at the hotel bar I’m on my way to sit in to celebrate my birthday.

@MALUSE No singing, but I received messages from the three of my children who live at a distance and a visit (with whiskey) from my son who lives in Belfast and his family. The hotel lounge we sat in in the afternoon was deliciously quiet and comfortable and I refrained from crying. If my piggy bank receives any mylot funds I will immediately buy a cottage in Normandy - the one next door to my brother is for sale.

@MALUSE This is true. I’m sure I could bury in French. What a pleasing thought!

I had about six I think. I won't be making them too often or I'll be like the side of a house.

They tasted good too. I must have had about 6 or 8 before I managed to get them away and into the fridge.

Can you not do them without twisting just to take care of the filling to stay intact inside?

I guess they wouldn't look quite as nice. Next time I'm going to use thin strips of bacon rather than dicing it.

Next time I'd use strips of bacon rather than dicing it. At least that way the bacon wouldn't fall off.

This is good Judy. I made many hors d’oeuvres of this kind. I always test one, I would never serve without a quality test.
