It is still Christmas season in the Philippines which will end today, the first Sunday of January called the Feast of Epiphany or the Three Kings' Day.
And while am busy coking our lunch, my husband's niece called saying they were on their way from Manila to visit us. I panicked at the thought of having unannounced arrival of guests because there were no food for them; also am so busy during the past days because of a sick sister.
So we just ordered food from a nearby restaurant. They came and a best friend from the past was with them, along with her grandchildren and one daughter who is my godchild. I haven't met my godchild for the past 31 years! So it turned out to be a reunion, and we had a good time although I was so tired.
Do you also experienced having surprise guests?

@acelawrites I can understand that. We like to make sure our guests will enjoy their visit but it can be hard when you are given little warning of their arrival.

@JudyEv yes, I was frantic; it was my husband's niece who notified us at such a very short time; and she was so apologetic about it.

It happens when they fail to notify us in advance! It creates tensions in me, though it always turn out positively in the end.

I managed them with the help of my family, and the ever reliable nearby restaurant who delivers food.

i would panic, too, because you also need to make sure the house is decent and take out extra dishes, bowls, etc. i'm glad we now have many eateries here in our neighborhood so we just buy them. we've had surprise visitors who bring food which i really appreciate. less dishes to wash!

Yes, it's my concern; bringing out extra dishes, etc. because I do not have a helper!

My husband;s niece called first if we were at home; but we never expected they were already on their way towards our home.

@acelawrites We have the tradition that The Three Kings bring candies to the less fortunate kids.

We usually celebrate it by hearing Mass on that day, usually the first Sunday of January. Yes, it looks like just an ordinary Sunday.

Yes and though it is fun to have them it is God sent to have places where we can order food

This is the good thing about the mushrooming of restaurants; a great help at times.

It is because she is now 31 years old and have a baby son already, but I could not give much money. so I just gave a little amount which I said was for "good luck!"

@acelawrites That's already great, my friend. Both of you to met each other after such a long time around was already a great gift for both of you.

We used to often have surprise visitors especially when my mother was still around, but lately we don't experience this anymore and I attribute this to technology, it's now a practice to call or text before one gets to see somebody.
