"Education thru Video Conferencing: Effective or not?!?"

Nowadays, companies have been incorporating the usage of 'video-conference.' It aims to lessen the travel, accommodation and among other expenses related to having a business trip locally or across the globe. The possible options of incorporating it into the educational system have yet to be fully executed. In fact, some tutorial companies or universities started to use this kind of methodology in catering students' needs, especially for those who are living in far-flung areas. "Do you think that video-conferencing can replace the professors or teachers in schools?" "Is it an effective way to acquire knowledge and skills?" Image Credit: eztalks.com

I would not say that it replaces professors or teachers in schools, but it's very useful when people cannot go to a regular school.

I agree on the part that people are living in far-flung places. It would give them the hope to learn despite being in this situation.

@LadyDuck I do agree on that. Hopefully, the internet is accessible to far away places.

@Shavkat This is my opinion, some people cannot go to school because it's too far.

I believe it is an effective way if everyone involved pays attention

I agree. I hope the host is not boring during the video conference meeting.

@aureliah There are facilitators who are being hired like this. I wondered why they were being hired.

I agree. Some kiddies do learn a lot of things online. I encouraged parents to choose the best online school that provides good lessons.

I think it can work in a business environment. However, as a professor, I would hate to see it replace real on-site teaching, with sweaty humans having real-world conversations about what they're learning.

I do agree with you. We can learn the principles online but not the practical application of them.

@Shavkat It (video) worked OK for my recent "mandated reporter" training. Watch a simple video, take a simple test, and turn it in to the powers that be. But there was no opportunity to discuss why this and why that, and how mandated reporter rules could be improved.

In general, I think video conferencing/learning works well. I do think it has improved a lot too.

I can say it is. Since I am teaching online. I had seen the difference when using the teaching platform before.

I don't like this kind of set up. I will be sleepy the whole time for it.

Been there, done that. Many times actually . It is a great option when you must take many courses and the other option is to travel a lot. If you need to participate at more than 10 courses every year, losing 2 days on the road for each one of them is not an option.

I agree. I think some post-graduate courses are available online now. It is convenient to have them. The downside is the practical application what had learned online.
