My soup pot damaged after first use

My mom gifted me a large white soup pot for the holidays. I decided to make soup today and finally used the pot. Everything was fine when I washed the pot before use and when I was cooking the soup.
But when I opened the lid just now to taste the soup I noticed some little white stuff inside the soup. I scooped that stuff out and hope that the soup is okay to eat. I had no idea what it was or where it came from though. I looked at the inside of the pot and noticed a spot inside where the white coating chipped off a little. That means that's what the white stuff inside the soup was.
After I touched that spot a little more of the white coating came off and now there is a big dent inside the pot and it's black, which I guess is the color of material the pot is made from. Wonder how this could've happened.
I only used a wooden spoon in there. And I did not bang anything against the inside of the pot. I am upset that this happened and especially after only the first use. I'd think that a product that's made in Germany would not get damaged right away. Guess I was wrong.
Maybe the pot was already damaged but there is no way I could've missed it... I'd try and return the pot, except I already removed the price tag.

Sorry to hear that especially after just one use. Too bad you couldn't return it for a new one.

I am upset. Good thing the pot was not expensive. I'd wash the pot and try returning it, however, I already removed the price tag. Hopefully, more of the coating won't come off and the dent won't get bigger. I don't want the pot to be damaged even more. And I don't want any of that stuff in my soup.

@lovebuglena I hope that she will be able to get her money back. That should never happen with a new pot.

Well it was used only once. And it was washed well.

The pot was okay when I got it. And it was okay after I washed it. Not sure how this could've happened.

That sounds like a defective one. You could still lodge a complaint

@responsiveme But the weird thing is that I didn't see anything that would suggest this would happen. If I had seen a big defect or what could turn into a big defect I'd have told my mom to return the pot.
