Sick Sucks

Yucky!

I caught the cold! I'm loading up on tea, water, lemons, ginger, garlic and elderberry syrup. I know I need sleep but it is just NOT coming to me! I like to avoid medication whenever possible...especially for something like the cold. Natural and homeopathic remedies are my kinda thing. Anyone else have any good tips?

Vitamin C. If I ever feel a cold coming on or HAVE a full blown cold I start taking a lot of vitamin C. Normally, just taking extra C when I FEEL like I am getting a cold kills it before it becomes a full blown cold and I rarely ever get one.

@fivecandles While oranges are good, tablets would give you heap higher dosages than oranges.

I'll pick some up! I know oranges are high in it. I had some chewables but I'm out. I'll have to get some tonight.

Sorry you're not well and welcome to myLot. It sounds like you're doing the right things to control or get rid of it.

Sorry to hear f this. Melatonin or Niquil might help but not something you want to become dependent on. Hope you feel better.

Olive Leaf Tincture. Just discovered this, so we've been trying it out. Between it and Elderberry, it's supposed to be the cure-all for a cold. We're currently going through a cold, too. Trying all the same things you are. One of my friends has a bacterial infection in her lungs and, apparently, it's going around in our area. So I'm trying to boost the family's immune system as much as possible.

I'll look into it, thanks! Best of luck to recovery in your family. I've now spread it to my kiddo. :(

Yes, honey! I don't know how I left that out! I have been eating local raw honey and also putting it in my tea. :)

@fivecandles Put hot water in a bowl and a towel over your head and breathe in and do it a few times a day and drink hot water with honey in it and gargle with salt water. Take care and hope you feel better soon.

What is elderberry syrup?
• United States
16 Jan 19
Its a syrup made from elder berries. Uncooked the berries should not be eaten, however cooked they have many health benefits. Elderberry Syrup is taken as both a preventative and as an active remedy; it helps slow down and stop the reproduction of viruses and reduces inflammation.

I don't like taking any kind of medication - homeopathetic or not
