Our Daughter Mailed Us an Amaryllis Flower!

This plant absolutely amazed me. Our daughter in New York mailed us an amaryllis bulb. It came in a little wax cocoon, with a green stem sticking out. She mailed it in a box.
After about a week, it started to bloom. There is a photo of it above.
I didn't have to do anything! I didn't need to water it or take care of it in any way. I just sat it on the kitchen counter, under a skylight.
What a fun, perfect gift, and it certainly looks cheery in our kitchen!

@DeborahDiane
I think those are the best kinds of flowers where they grow on their own. It is very nice.

I just mean that the bulb and dirt are in a round wax bowl which completely surrounds it. You never have to water it. It has all that it needs inside the wax. I've never had anything like it, but it is bright and cheery!

@TheHorse - It was amazing. It bloomed twice. We tried to get it to bloom a third time, but no luck. However, I loved this plant. It was so festive during the holidays.
