Movie Review The Revenant

Spoiler alerts - 2015 A major movie release that earned Leonardo DiCaprio multiple awards for his often brooding silent portrayal of American frontiersman and animal trapper, Hugh Glass. Legend, rather than history claimed that Glass survived against incredible odds in the blizzard ravaged wilderness. Savagely mauled by a grizzly bear, Glass was abandoned by his colleagues (led by Tom Hardy), but treated his own wounds, (using burning gun-powder to cauterize a cut throat), and staggered over 200 miles to seek revenge (especially as Hardy's men killed his half Pawney son to cover up their abandonment). I found the film dull and predictable, though well acted. Glass survives plummeting over multiple waterfalls and endures much of his journey without food. He comes across as near indestructible, a Rambo type figure driven by a need for vengeance though it comes in an unexpected closing twist. A film that isn't half as good as it thinks it is. Vince has just read a book with this title. I must ask him if that's what it's about.

@arthurchappell I did ask and yes, it has the same story. It was a word we'd never heard before - revenant. We had to look it up.

I enjoyed this film Arthur. The 4K Resolution was incredible though ~that might have been a factor. The lighting, the scenery and camera were superb.

I have not watched this movie. I have read that there is a lot of violence and blood and this is not something I like to watch.

I read the reviews but that's all. Reviews because my Friday paper is full of it.

I agree with your review. Even though the movie was ok. I didn't think it was as good as they made it out to be.

Its quite scenic but violent movie, still reveals a fascinating story along with nice acting. But a one-time watch is enough

Critics slobbered all over it and Leo got his Oscar.
