Are organically grown foods worth the extra money?

Organically grown fruits and vegetables have the reputation of being better for you than regularly grown foods. They are supposed to taste better, not be sprayed with pesticides and insecticides and are, therefore, also better for the environment. However, they do have one drawback - they tend to be more costly than conventionally grown foods. This can be a factor in the decision to buy or not to buy organic foods. With food budgets for many people already stretched to the limit is it worth sacrificing something, a regular trip to the movies for example, for the satisfaction of feeding your family on organically-grown produce?

Honestly, I don't really think they are worth the extra money.

I wouldn't be bothered but I know some are very particular. They are now saying our soils are so depleted of some minerals that even organically grown stuff can be deficient in minerals such as magnesium.

It depends from which country they come, because there are so many scams about "organic food" that the only thing sure is that you pay more. I do not buy organic, vegetables and fruits do not taste better. Those I grow in my garden taste better, this leads me to think that those sold in the stores are not really "organic".

Unfortunately, I (like many people) are not in a position to grow my own

I just grow most of my own. I know for sure this is nothing on it. And it is also cheaper

@wolfgirl569 Isn't that hard work and time-consuming? A lot of people couldn't do it because they of where they live.

I think its a yes because of the above mentioned reason. To avoid these higher prices I grow some of my vegetables.

I will not pay more for them because they are sometimes grown next to a farmer why sprays his crop and if the win comes up the spray will be on all crops. Why shoul it cost more when they are not out the money to spray their crops.
