The Local m&m of the Philippines

In most Asian countries, it cannot be denied that some foreign products were replicated, but the companies used with different brand names. The Philippines is not exempted with this real fact about it. I am not scrutinizing or criticizing in any way. Most Filipinos love foreign products, either intangible things or not, One of the local versions of the original m&m is Nips here in the Philippines. Since it is my Korean student's birthday, I bought small packs of Nips for him. My aim is to let him experience the local sweets available in the Philippines. "Are there any local products replicate the foreign ones in your place?" "Do you like sweets?"

We have candy coated chocolates by Lindt, that do not look alike M&M. I like chocolates, I do not like candies.

I do like some fruity candies. But I still do prefer dark chocolates. Do you like them?

@Shavkat I only like dark chocolate, it's also the least dangerous for our teeth.

There are "copycats" at places like Dollar Tree and 99 Cents Store.

I noticed a couple of others, aside from Jack 'n Jill Nips, who copied the shape and colors of M&M'S but I doubt if they taste the same.

With the taste concern, I do think the Nips chocolates are quite too sweet.

As I child I have fond memories of this and they have evolved over the years and they have variety of their brand names just like the imported ones M&M. Although taste wise I like the imported ones but these local products have made their version almost similar to the imported ones already.

Indeed, my friend. There are many varieties of it now. I will not argue about the taste. It is best to have the imported ones.

@Shavkat True they are improving their products which is good for them. Although I still prefer the imported ones but their taste is not bad anymore. I think theu are doing something to improve on the taste.

That's so sweet you bought them for your student! We have tons of generic brands of food here in the U.S.! The taste is very similar and it saves a lot of money!

I find it cheesy, too. I think he deserves to have some sweets. Since he is my foster child in the academy.

I do not but used to like sweets when little kid. Do you guys, I mean sure you do. I always wonder how it works in other countries. Tradition companies that been there since a kid. Do you have them and is it something you find cool. I mean we have Hershey's and Budweiser, respectable companies where one can make the case that is American. We so self indulged here we not sure how things work outside our own space.

I must say that Filipinos love almost all the imported goods from your country. I am a sweet tooth person and love having them once in a while lately. When I was a kid, I totally obliged my parents to give me some.

If I am going to choose between Nips and m&m, I would choose the imported one.
