Not impressed!

Yesterday morning the weather was lovely; a bit chilly but the sun was shining, I had some errands to do so spent a couple of hours cycling around, taking the scenic route along the river. As I was heading home the sky started to look a bit greyer, as though rain or something might be on the way. I got home just in time, because shortly afterwards it started to sleet, and then to snow quite hard. Not pretty little snowflakes either, but great big wet splodges of snow. In no time the ground was covered with a couple of inches. Then we have had a frosty night. This morning the temperatures are just above freezing so it won’t last much longer but at the moment everything still looks very picturesque and wintry. The chickens do not appreciate it though. When I opened the door of their run (which is covered) this morning to allow them out they didn’t look at all impressed! All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2019.

Indeed they are. There is an interesting review here if you are feeling like some intellectual reading!

@Fleura Thank you for the link, I am surely going to read this. I had a pet mallard duck when I was a kid and he was sweet and lovely.

It doesn't look like it would be much fun for a chicken in that kind of environment.

Usually they can't wait to get out, but not today! They did eventually venture though. At least it isn't raining, they really hate that even more!

@Fleura Yes. Chickens aren't good in the rain.

This is all we've had this winter so far. But you never know - wintry weather seems to be moving forward through the season here.

Yes, the moggie decided she wasn't going out in the snow and was mainly curled up in front of the fire

Cats are funny in snow aren't they? They gingerly put one paw down, and then shake it to get rid of the horrible stuff!

@Fleura I could tell it was mild yesterday evening as she went out and refused to come in until she was good and ready!

No, definitely not. Nor making 'angels' either, even though they'd be able to make good wings!

I seems that you have heavy snow there.Deep snow makes it difficult for chickens to look for food,so they are ungrateful.

No they don't look like the are likin' the snow. They can't decide if they really want to get out of their run or not.
