So I don't really want to get political on here, I have avoided political opinions on here cause I know it is such a touchy subject. I do want to say something about what I just read. For those in the USA I'm sure you all have heard about the government shutdown and how some government workers are not working and others are working and not getting paid. The government has been shutdown for like 34 days now. Now I'm not going to get into the why it's shutdown or whether it should or shouldn't be. I want to address the fact that some politician stated he doesn't understand why these workers are starting to go to food banks and other charities to try and keep food on the table. He can't understand why these people don't get short term loans or use their savings to get by. Well this moron is worth 2.9 billion dollars, so I guess that is why he doesn't understand. Most Americans don't have extra money laying around, some have nothing in savings and live pay check to pay check. These people have been without pay for over a month now and probably already burned through what savings they may have had. How is this guy a politician and have no clue to how the majority of Americans live. Why would these people want to get a loan even if they could. Now they will owe money and interest on that money, that will just set them back farther than they were. If they live pay check to pay check they might not even have good enough credit to get a loan not to mention they might not even seen any of this back pay for quite sometime. I've lived bad times being homeless, and I've lived most of my life pay check to pay check and to have this moron say he doesn't understand, just go get a loan kind of pissed me off. Maybe he should get out there and talk to more of the people that voted for him and see how they really live. He just might become a better person for it. Alright, I'm done ranting, sorry

Pretty sure he wouldn't become a better person by talking to his constituents, just an FYI. I avoid politically discussions here as much as possible as well. People get butthurt or don't want to support their arguments etc. All I'm going to say is I don't see the government being reopened anytime soon, though I certainly, certainly hope it does!

Yes, I don't talk about it here and I usually keep my thoughts about politics to myself. It's easier that way.

@Bensen32 Definitely easier, I agree. I've seen some really bad arguments come about because of politics.

@ScribbledAdNauseum True, I avoid it cause there is nothing we can do but vote and hope the person we vote for sticks to what they "say" they are going to do.

You are so right, he "cannot understand" because he has plenty of money and well... he can understand nothing at all.

Sometimes it pays to be political. We should always remember that it's our government. We elect them. We pay them. We can get rid of them. But we have to stay engaged, be informed, and vote before that can happen.

I read the headline about this on bing this morning. I couldn't believe someone would say that. Doesn't he know that even if you get a loan you have to pay it back sometime.
