Are diesel cars popular in your country?

In India, diesel cars are very popular. This is because diesel is cheaper than petrol and people can save a lot on running costs. However diesel cars cost more to buy than petrol costs. Also over the years the cost difference between diesel and petrol has come down. So the advantage has come down a little over the years. People tend to buy a diesel car only when they drive at least 1000 to 2000 km a month. Are diesel cars popular in your country?

Yes, diesel is popular here. Diesel was much cheaper than petrol years ago but the difference is much less now.

@pitstop No, we have a lot of diesel cars. And almost all trucks here run on diesel.

@JudyEv I don't remember seeing very many diesel cars in Adelaide where I was living for a few days. Even gas stations had mostly petrol pumps and one diesel pump. I agree that trucks and bigger vehicles usually use diesel.

They were but sales are falling rapidly due to new taxes on diesels.
