My cat Gracie: six lives down, three to go

Some of you might remember how our gray Persian cat, Gracie was missing after the woman drove her car through our garage on Christmas morning.
We searched and called and looked for hours for Gracie. I was so worried that she might have been injured and had run off to the woods behind our house.
We were so excited to see her late that night, fine but nervous. She has been very jittery at the least little unexpected noise.
Two days ago, Gracie was nowhere to be found. I thought maybe it was because of a rabbit dog that was roaming through our yard. The next day she still hadn't come home or eaten her food.
I was so upset thinking she was gone for good this time. Then, last night, there she was on the back porch! We let her in the house (she's usually an outside cat) and she roamed around inside for a while. She even let me pet her for a few minutes, most of the time she wants to be near us, but doesn't care for a lot of petting.
So, I'm pretty sure she's used at least five or six lives of her nine.
When she's missing, it makes us realize how much we really do love her.

@1creekgirl They are curious. We feared that he entered a garage and someone closed him inside by mistake.

It's always upsetting when a pet goes missing. Once a previous cat I had was gone for 3 days..I was losing hope but who showed up in the doorway?? I think she had been under the bushes in front of the house the whole time by the look of her. Her fur was all full of mulch.

Really hope she has not used all of her lives as she is so lovely.
What a really gorgeous cat.
She certainly keeps you on your toes.

She's different. I wish she would sit in my lap and let me cuddle her, but all she wants to do is lick somebody. She does want to be sitting near wherever we are, though.

A bit like our dog he will come and lick you when he wants to but he does not care much for you stroking him a lot.

@1creekgirl Of course, that is understandable for the owner of a pet who went astray and came back.

She is adorable and I am glad she came back. When Sid started going out the bathroom window I always worried if and when I would see him again but now I am used to him coming and going. It gets quite amusing when I am in the bathroom brushing my teeth or washing my face and he pops his head in through the window

@1creekgirl not much at all I see him only several times of the day and leave his bowl full when I go to bed so when he comes in the early morning he quickly eats and leaves again.

Gracie is a gorgeous baby. Cats can be too adventurous for their own good. Hoping she sticks closer to home so you can keep an eye on her more. I think cats know when we worry about them, they just don't always care.

@1creekgirl I am sure that had to be terrifying for her. Imagine how her body and ears took the sounds and vibrations of the vehicle going through the garage. It may have been to her what an earthquake is to us.

I don't know if that dog running through the yard scared her, but since the accident at Christmas, she's just very nervous and jumpy.

I can relate to that situation; I always thought my cat was gone when she does not show up for a day ot two; then she will show up very hungry.

Yes. Or a puffy furball. Either way, she's a sweetie.

I understand when our furry ones go missing we will look long and hard for them. When this first happened I thought Sophie left me for good. What Sophie does I learned is find her own place when there are too many people in our home or she just wants to get away so she has her special place. When she came out I was so happy to see her and let her know that I was. Now, I know when it gets to be too much for her she will go to her special place.

I can identify with Sophie! Too many people can get stressful at times for humans and pets.

so glad she returned'n all 'twas alright. the resident cat here stays 'ndoors these days 's we've a herd 'f feral cats outdoors. some fight with her through the windows'n the screen porch whilst others jest hang out with her. my fear bein' she'll get ganged'p'n then ran o'er whilst tryin' to 'scape such (lots 'f traffic out here these days). beautiful cat!
's fer the ferals, we worry 'bout 'em, too. e'ery now'n then a couple'll disappear 'n the hubs goes huntin'. 'fter a few days they return 'n we breath a sigh 'f relief.

And she's a survivor! But I wonder what really happened that she went missing. If only cats could talk.
