Feral children

Does your area suffer from the phenomenon of 'Feral Children'? Kids who are allowed to run free by their parents with very little control can get up to all sorts of mischief. Vandalism and petty crime are commonly associated with these kids but is it really their fault? Feral children are a real problem in many areas and can make life miserable for ordinary citizens. Should the parents not be held to account for the actions of their children?

When I was a kid I use to run around but I never did anything bad just hung out, and the same with my daughter. But I know many kids that would run crazy and tear sh*t up and not have to pay for it.

@hillhjill I did the same as a kid but many of today's youngsters seem set on causing trouble or destroying things

@ThreeTeddies that's because they are not disciplined like we were.

@hillhjill You're right! Discipline is sadly lacking in many families today

We are lucky, no feral children in the area where I live. Not far from here there were episodes of vandalism at the college. They placed hidden camera, they caught the teenagers who caused the damages, their parents were obliged to pay. No more problems since then.

@LadyDuck Good that they were caught and even better that the parents were made to pay

@ThreeTeddies This is a very good policy, those who cause damages pay. When people have to give money they pay more attention to what they (or their kids) do.

I suppose I would probably have been regarded as a feral child but my friends and I were more interested in playing football, going for bike rides etc. than causing trouble.
I think the worst thing we ever got up to was taking a few apples from trees in people's gardens.
The problem with parental responsibility is that beyond a certain age some kids are impossible to control. Although it could be argued that a lack of parental discipline at an early age has resulted in this out of control adolescent.

No children live where I live. But yes, our town does have feral children. I think the parents should.

Parents can only do so much about their kids. Especially with teens, as many don't listen to their parents, and then will take off if they get grounded also.
Each person, should be accountable for what they do, even kids.

@ThreeTeddies not just kids. Adults too. Life would be alot easier if people owed what they do

@Courtlynn Yeah, but it doesn't seem to work that way. Some kids think that the world owes them something and that they don't have to act in a reasonable manner
