Very concerning news came from the world of rock and roll today. Lindsey Buckingham, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and former guitarist/vocalist/songwriter for Fleetwood Mac, had emergency open heart surgery earlier this week.
If that's not bad enough, his wife announced in a press release that the intubation process damaged the 69-year-old's vocal cords. They aren't sure yet if the damage is permanent.
Buckingham helped propel Fleetwood Mac to superstardom when he and then-girlfriend Stevie Nicks joined the band, replacing Bob Welch. Buckingham and Nicks left the band in the mid-80s but returned for the reunion phase in the 90s. In 2017, Stevie Nicks issued an ultimatum to the band: either Buckingham left, or she did. Buckingham was fired (and successfully sued the band for a settlement). He was replaced by Crowded House's Neil Finn and former Heartbreaker Mike Campbell.
In addition to Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham has enjoyed a prolific solo career. His best-known solo hits are "Trouble" and the theme to National Lampoon's Vacation, "Holiday Road."
Here's wishing Lindsey Buckingham a complete recovery in both areas of concern!
Here's the classic "Holiday Road":

Ooh, isn’t he....especially after he shaved off the Afro and the facial hair.

I feel the same. It sounds as if the open heart surgery went well. Now to see if his vocals recover after some rest.

I did hear about that on the news this morning, I hope that his vocal cords are not permanently damaged.

When I saw the news I thought, “Man, isn’t he a little young to be having emergency open heart surgery?” Then I looked his age up.
How’d he get so old?!?!???
