Have you ever given a ride to a hitch hiker?

On my car I usually never give a ride to hitch hikers. This is mostly due to safety concerns. Do you give rides to hitch hikers? Have you got any interesting stories?

Not me personally, but I was in the car with the person who did give a ride to a hitchhiker. He ended up being a pretty cool guy and we hung out with him for a little while afterwards. He was a few years older than us. I should mention that I am female, and so was the driver. It was rather risky. I have a story about a hitchiker, but this is a "creepy pasta" I read and may or may not be true. The story goes like this : The narrator's aunt once picked up a man who was hitchhiking. She struck up a conversation with him but he was mostly quiet. He did answer some of her questions and she offered to take him out to lunch, I guess he was down on his luck (broke). They went to lunch and he asked for her number. She gave it freely, this was before cellphones. A few days later she received a call from him. He said that she was very lucky, that he had planned to rape and kill her then steal her car, but she was so nice that he couldn't do that. He told her to NEVER pick a hitchhiker up again. She never did.

@pitstop Yes, it really is. Even if it's not true, I think it's probable. Oh, there was another "somewhat" hitchhiking incident. A friend and I were on our way to her home a few years ago. We passed a man on a motorcycle who had experienced troubles. She parked the car at a nearby place and instructed me to stay in the car with her dog. We gave the man a ride to his home and he was very grateful.

Sometimes I drive but I will never give a ride to hitch hikers. They can use uber or others. Many incidents are not safe and I do not want to experience this.

@pitstop Correctly. Once there was a friend of my office who experienced robbery. He was robbed by a beautiful woman and he was offered a candy by the woman. Suddenly, my friend fainted in the car. The car was stolen and it turned out that the beautiful woman was one of the car robbery syndicates in my area.

Over the years I have given many rides to hitchhikers. I picked them up, we talked a bit, and they got out. That's about it!

We used to pick up hitch-hikers regularly but we're more careful now. We don't as many hitching rides either.
