Gosh, I Am Getting So Forgetful !

Last weekend, I was at my parents’ house.
It was there when on two occasions that I forgot what I was cooking.
The first one was cooking all the gathered seeds from eating the big ripe jackfruit. I was boiling it so we can eat it for snacks. I just went into my mother’s room and forgot about it.
However, my sister after about half an hour told me when she entered my mother’s bedroom , that the seeds got burned instead.
Then the other one was that I was reheating the left-over chicken adobo in a pan. However, this time it wasn’t burnt yet, when I remembered it, since I also went inside my mother’s bedroom and forgot about it. But it was already so dry meaning all the juices have dried , that those in the bottom part have burned already.
Good thing the whistling kettle was invented. You will hear it whistle when it’s already boiling.
Have you ever experienced forgetting that you are reheating or cooking something?
Note: Picture if from google

@simplfred Today, I research on the net on what ways we we can keep our mind sharp and healthy.
One of those is keeping our minds occupied with crossword puzzles and the like. But I strongly believe, socializing here and making posts here can really help us a lot in keeping our minds healthy and sharp. Do you agree?
Well, exercise is a strongly recommended way also as it adds oxygen into the brain.

@SIMPLYD i was first scared that the empty kettle would melt and have a hole underneath, or explode or hit the ceiling! hahaha! i only thought about all the wasted gas afterwards.

You are not alone in forgetting things, especially when our attention is called off by something.

@changjiangzhibin89 Not yet. It's already one year and 2 months since her stroke.
The doctor said it will take a long time before she can recover because she's already old. She's 80.

Yes, that is true.
Although her bedroom is adjacent the kitchen, and with a screened door, so one can see from the bedroom who is in the kitchen sink and near the ref but not the part where the cooking is done.
So, one will forget what she is cooking when she is inside the room.

@Happy2BeMe It will if we don't do some interventions like eating the right foods and other ways, such as taking a supplement and exercising at least 30 minutes a day.

@SIMPLYD I use a simple pot, my life is simple i suppose. Don't ask what I drink. What do you use to clean your burnt offerings?

My first thought was don't go into your mother's bedroom when you are cooking
.
Oh yes, I've done that quite a few times. Most of the time it happens with the toaster oven (somehow our timer on it does not work) so I have to make a conscious effort to keep checking on it. I've burned a few bagels or toast and the other week it was with rice cakes

There are times I have forgotten food I was cooking and yes, I remembered when the burning smell began. The tea kettle in the photo looks just like the one I have and it sure whistles loud. I wonder if they could make whistling pots and pans.
