I live near Kalihi Stream and it had some trees on it's borders. The State and City cut back the trees a whole lot. The little saffron finches I saw weekly when I catch the bus disappeared. This happened a couple of years back. I was so disappointed for back in 2006 is when I saw my first saffron finch on the Big Island. Then to my delight, this past week I saw a pair of saffron finches at the bus stop I go to regularly which is a different bus stop near Kalihi Stream. What a joy it was to see the pair of saffron finches again!

Saffron Finches are little birds. Saffron is the yellow color, it gets the name from the Saffron spice that we use for risotto.

Saffron is a color...like a golden color of curry. These little birds usually are seen in pairs. I saw my first pair when I was on the Big Island back in 2006. When I saw them on Oahu, I was so delighted for they are so cute to behold.

@LadyDuck They are so cute to see. I was so sad when I didn't see them for over a year...but when I saw them this year it brought a spark of relief for they are such a delight to see.

It was. I enjoy bird watching and wondering what kind of bird it is.
