We hired a van with a trained guide for ourselves, mainly because Claudia has a big problem in her neck and we wanted a good car and a slow pace. We got that and a wonderful guide, all for ourselves. Claudia is interested in politics and she asked Angel everything about maybe the last 10 Presidents in Mexico. Tania has other interests and Angel taught her about the several plants that Mexican used for medicinal uses for ages.
Teotihuacán is incredible. I stayed at the bottom while my daughters climbed with Angel. At one time, our guide brought me a much needed water bottle
I had come twice to Teotihuacán and could see that more work has been done by the archeologists.
After the visit the guide took us to a restaurant nearby (I told him that it had to be clean but not the most expensive one). And we invited him for lunch. Even at that, he continued being a guide. He explained every single Mexican dish. I ate a lamb stew that was wrapped in a thin maguey sheet (The maguey is a cactus that has many uses, please read online). Delicious.
When I reached home I lain on my bed and knew nothing of the world for 2 hours

It was wonderful! I was very happy to have invited the guide for lunch as even lunch was part of the trip.

Absolutely. Years ago we took a tour to Chichen Itzá with a bad guide and we learned nothing. Then my friend rented a car to Tulum and we had the services of a very good guide. And although Tulum is very small as compared to Chichen Itzá, we learned 10 times.

@DianneN At least he was a flirt
The guide to Chichen Itzá spoke a horrible English and refused to speak in Spanish.

@marguicha Our son and his new bride were in Chichen Itza and had a wonderful guide. We've have guides that were so wonderful wherever we traveled in the world, except for one leg of the journey in Aswan, Egypt. Our guide had to see to a problem, and had another guide take us to see a few things. He barely could be understood. I got so hot there and bored with him, that I left to go back into the air conditioned van and to drink water. That ugly jerk left my husband and flirted with me all the way to the van.

. Hubs was there in one minute.

@jvicentevalera One week was a good amount of time for my legs. But such a city needs more time.
