Not the jewels of Frida Kahlo.

I wanted to buy some jewels for me. The burglars I had over a year ago stole every single thing I had, including my wedding band. Among the stolen jewels, I had some beautiful earrings and matching ring, much the Frida Kahlo style, I had bought in Mexico several years ago. Then I had more money and more life. I count my life in stages and this one was before my lymphoma and chemotherapy. I wanted to buy something beautiful, but I was not going to pay a King´s ransom for it. So I went to a big place with lots of things made by artisans and found a pair of earrings ( the round ones but not heavy) and a beautiful ring that could and couldn´t be silver. The ring is beautiful and suits my finger so I will not cry if I find it is a less noble material. I also bought a small ring for Carolina. I saw better jewelry, but decided against them. I´ll spend whatever extra money I have in traveling.

I have sold most of my jewels. I never wore them, I decided to get rid of them, at least I do not risk to see them stolen.

I was unhappy to have my wedding band stolen. It was just a gold band with my husband´s name carved inside. That is not replaceable. But I can close my eyes and remember.

@marguicha My husband removed his wedding band ant put it on the sink when going to wash his hand in a Restaurant, he immediately went back and it had disappeared. He never replaced it, I still have mine. I have only kept my rings.

@LadyDuck My husband lost his wedding band a couple of years after we got married. He was a soccer player and he took it off when he trained or played., Most of the times he forgot to put it on. Once, he just lost it.

Sounds like a very good investment in jewelry. I have some favorite pieces but no longer anything that is worth too much. I left quite a bit to my stepdaughter in Latvia.

I think you are wise. I've never had much jewellery but have decided I's rather spend the money elsewhere.

I had a few nice but not very expensive jewels that my husband bought for me until last year, when robbers entered my house. Everything material can be stolen or destroyed. Memories last forever.
