No Tolerance for Idiots

A couple of weeks ago I met a woman who wants to play pickleball with me. I gave her my phone to punch in her name and information including her phone number. She didn’t have her phone handy for me to enter my information. I never bothered checking her information.
I had dinner with her recently with a group group of friends, and she asked why I didn’t contact her for pickleball. I told her that we had plans and apologized. We set a date for this morning.
It was raining when I woke up, so I tried to text her. Of course I couldn’t reach her. She only put her name into my phone!!!
I think we are both idiots. Her for obvious reasons and me, for not bothering to check my phone.
So I walked to one of the marinas when the sun came out. I’m waiting for the once-every-3rd Thursday of the month pesticide guy to spray his organic stuff, not that he’s been here since we’ve been here, but thankfully no insects, and then I have bills to pay. After that I will make meatballs for the freezer.
I will see you all later!

Pickleball - I pictured pickles in ball gowns. No really that sounds cool though.

@FayeHazel Somewhat, but less strenuous. It's an easier way to play tennis with a much smaller court, paddles, and balls that look like whiffle balls. I like tennis much more, but it's for those who can't dash around the tennis court. The net is 4 inches lower, too. It's becoming very popular.

What is pickleball? You toss kosher dill pickles back and forth?

Eventually you both will get it together. Idiots? Or just distracted?

@DianneN That is interesting. I just may be able to play that. Regular tennis is way too hard for me.

@LeaPea2417 I'm sure you would do just fine. Many people, old and young seem to love it.

Are you a pretty good pickle ball player? I've played a few times, but not certainly enough to be any good. Pickleball is exploding in growth here, and we can't keep up building new courts.

@DianneN It's a fun game to play! I enjoyed playing, even though I played against some pretty skilled players!

@moffittjc I will have to learn the rules and perhaps watch a few games before getting on the court.

It has happened to me before, it's so annoying. However I have to say that it is her fault, not yours. Besides she should have told you to check the number and save it in the phone once she was done typing it.

I will have to be on the lookout for her. Yes, it happens, but she should have told me that she didn't know how to use my phone to enter the info. I even opened the contact page for her. All she had to do was pop in her name and phone number.

@DianneN This reminds me of the old days where there was no cellphone and yet me and my friends would still find each other to meet at a certain place once or twice a week. It wasn't that difficult back then. But now, we all depend on our cellphones and without it, it's just hard to search for each other.

@toniganzon Exactly! But those good old days are long gone. It's funny, but on my way to the gym, I saw her riding her bike. We stopped and exchanged info properly and even set a date to play pickle ball in a couple of weeks.

@Hannihar I'm glad you can make good meatballs know. It took me many years of trying.
I ran into her on my way to the gym yesterday. We properly entered our contact information and set a date for pickle ball! Thank goodness we worked it all out!

I am glad you like your meatballs. I finally got a recipe and combined with some things I had and now I like my meatballs. For the longest time I could not make them good. Does she have your number or neither one of you could exchange phone numbers?

I am so glad that you can be firm and diplomatic at the same time.
I remember meeting a young girl in our boarding house at the time, she was only 12, but so wise. She told people off in the nicest way, that her bullies gone away still puzzled if they had just been telling off or not.

I am so glad that you can be firm and diplomatic at the same time. 1 person likes this

The inventor named it after his dog, Pickles, who stole and ran away with all his tennis balls. I wouldn't call either one of you idiots, sometimes we think we've done what we thought we wanted without realizing that it was mostly in our heads rather than actually on the device ... in fact a friend of mine's 30 yr old daughter has that same problem so it isn't just me
