As some of you know we have a guest and that means I have to be active in the kitichen. In the normal course we do not mind eating left overs but with a guest around I have to think of cooking fresh food every single day. We have assistance around to do the chores but planning what to cook is the main issue Our fridige is loaded. Today is the fifth day and I am happy to say each day was managed well. In a way I get to eat fresh food every day. How do you cope with guests?

I told my guests: don't come pls since I don't like cooking. Anyone turned up, they used to just eat whatever I had there, leftovers included.

We've never had guests stay here (we don't have the room) so planning for the one meal that they will be here for of course is always manageable. Most people we know have other plans, so they seriously don't stay for long . . . many are fine with going out to a restaurant - in fact they tell us where to meet (which is usually along to way to wherever they're going).

@allknowing Oh but I would appreciate the hospitality! Going overboard is better than lack of hospitality. My parents and family out here would do so much for visitors from Japan . . . but when they went out there, it wasn't like that .

That day will not be far even here there will be no house guests although we Indians believe in taking hospitality a bit far.

I always cook fresh food very day, but with guest around it means more variety. I always get hassled when they are more than three extra people. LOL

Does that mean you never have left over food or that you throw away left over food?

@allknowing I only cook what i need for that meal, that is why I get into trouble when someone lands up lol . No, I hate wasting food. We eat any leftovers, if there is.

We have a friend who comes to visit us every year from France, he stays one week, I cook every day. He is a single man and he loves to have home made food when he visits. Anyway I cook fresh food every day for my husband, I only cook the quantity we need, I almost never have leftovers.

Not to have left overs is indeed a trapeze act. When I cook there is always leftovers and I cannot possibly throw it out.

We load up on food when we have guests, and also take them out to restaurants. They treat us to breakfast, lunches, or dinner out, too.
