Our random act of kindness

When we drove the car and caravan to Walpole to spend a few days with relatives, we had to stop at one place as roadworks were in progress. We were right next to the ‘lollipop man' – the man with the Stop Go sign.
We’d just picked up a few supplies at the local supermarket including some very nice grapes. The grapes were sitting between us so as we drove off we gave the lollipop man a small bunch.
Our reward was a surprised look, a big smile and a thank you. Sometimes it doesn't take much to please someone. I often think these men and women must have quite a boring life stopping and starting the traffic.

Great thinking as yes they do look bored and a bit 'roasted' in the sun too! I'm sure the grapes were very appreciated and refreshing. A chair would have been well received too---lol!

That was nice of you! I don't think their lives are too boring. I think they go wherever the jobs are..so they probably get to see different areas, I just feel sorry for them if the weather is terrible.

They do stand in one spot for hours on end though.

If only more people knew there is more joy in giving than receiving the world would have been a happy place.

My grandad used to be a lollipop man in his retirement years - he enjoyed it

It's only a little thing but it means someone has thought of them.

I seen one dancing with her sign here one time. It can be a dangerous job too.

Thanks. They were nice grapes so it was definitely a sacrifice (just joking).

It was lucky that we pulled up right next to him so it made it easy to hand him the grapes.
