Our random act of kindness

When we drove the car and caravan to Walpole to spend a few days with relatives, we had to stop at one place as roadworks were in progress. We were right next to the ‘lollipop man' – the man with the Stop Go sign. We’d just picked up a few supplies at the local supermarket including some very nice grapes. The grapes were sitting between us so as we drove off we gave the lollipop man a small bunch. Our reward was a surprised look, a big smile and a thank you. Sometimes it doesn't take much to please someone. I often think these men and women must have quite a boring life stopping and starting the traffic.

That does look like the most tedious job in the world. Although a very kind thing to do I suspect he would have preferred the kind of grapes that have undergone a fermentation process and come in liquid form in a bottle

Our generosity does not extend that far - and anyway I couldn't reach it.

Great thinking as yes they do look bored and a bit 'roasted' in the sun too! I'm sure the grapes were very appreciated and refreshing. A chair would have been well received too---lol!

They stand there hour after hour. I don't know if they ever get hassled by impatient people.

@Ronrybs And sometimes they'd have to interrupt a long line and no-one would want the line to start with them. At least on our country roads there are usually long breaks in the traffic so it's not so bad.

That was nice of you! I don't think their lives are too boring. I think they go wherever the jobs are..so they probably get to see different areas, I just feel sorry for them if the weather is terrible.

If only more people knew there is more joy in giving than receiving the world would have been a happy place.

That is very true. At least as much joy in giving as receiving. More so, I would say.
