So my dad is coming home!!!!

Hey! So my dad rang me not too long ago and said that he is coming home today! I won't lie! As excited as I am, I am also very nervous. A nurse will be coming in to check on him every second day but I feel nervous him being home without nurses around him 24/7. My dad was breaking up a little over the phone ( stupid mobiles ) but I believe he said that a doctor wants him to come back in about a week to have his foot checked. I believe my dad will continue this pump..soaking..cleansing ( whatever it is ) treatment while he is home but it's a smaller one that he can carry around with him. So very excited and happy and no doubt he will be happy too. But I can pretty much guarantee you guys I won't be sleeping much worrying about him walking around the house, what he eats, his blood / sugar levels, basically his overall health! I'm still a bit shaken up from when this first started and how he was reacting to the infection. I'm hoping his girlfriend is still coming to stay with us because she would be a great help. Not just for me but for my dad since she knows how to cook. Especially diabetic meals. But yay! He is coming home!

@Nevena83 As far as I know he is feeling fine. I've asked him a few times if he feels sick or anything but he hasn't. Which is good.

@MommyOfEli2013 Thank you very much Courtney. It sure has been a lot of stress and I know there will be some more stress while adjusting. Basically he was sick in January and it was all due to an infection big toe. He has diabetes so that infection was making me sick. He left it all way too long to the point it he had to have that toe amputated. Now he is attached to this pump / device thing....that is hopefully going to save his foot. He was in hospital for 4 weeks.

@VivaLaDani13 Oh wow, I am sorry to hear that. I can definitely understand the stress that all of that would entail. Hopefully the adjusting goes well though, and is not too stressful. Having diabetes myself, I understand how dangerous infections can be, especially when dealing with the feet! Sorry he had to have his toe amputated. Hopefully the device will help save his foot...is it like a drain thing?

@VivaLaDani13 Thank you as well, it is definitely not a fun thing to go through. I am sorry that he is going through all of that with his diabetes and his foot. Not sure it is the same thing I had....but I had a machine after my son was born (C-section) because I had a problem with the incision healing....that machine was could a wound vac.

I am so glad he is coming home. He will heal faster, the hospital makes people depressed.

@VivaLaDani13 It is a reality, because feeling depressed slow down the process of the body to heal itself. The doctors try to send people home as soon as they can for this reason.

@LadyDuck That is what my dad's girlfriend said as well. I had never heard that saying before though. people healing faster at home but it does make sense. I'm very glad he can be home.

That is wonderful news. He will be glad to be home. I know it makes you nervous but he will do good at home. It helps to be back to a normal routine and with family.

@Happy2BeMe Thank you very much. So far he has just been resting which is to be expected in his condition. I've been taking care of breakfast and will be getting his lunch soon. Other than that he has just been watching TV and having naps here and there.

@WiseGhots lol I don't think a party is a good idea just yet! When things are more settled with him and we know he is completely out of the woods, then I think some sort of celebration would take place!

@VivaLaDani13 Oh, I see. But my idea was a simple party... Not a big one.

@WiseGhots I know. But now isn't a good time for a small one or big one. He needs to settle at home and hopefully get some good rest. As much as the nurses looked after him in hospital, he wasn't able to get much sleep at all. After all of this has settled down and hopefully his foot is free from any amputation, we can have a little get together with family to celebrate.

@Sheali Not just yet as he still isn't 100% yet. It's positive that he is home but his foot is still attached to that device to help clean it, fight off the infection and hopefully heal it. A celebration will take place at a later date when we all know he is ok. Cause things still aren't 100% positive yet.

@Mavic123456 Thank you kindly. Yeah I'm just glad he is home but I'm still a bit unsettled. It's not over yet. His foot still needs the green light before feeling settled with everything.

That's great news!! I would do your best to get his girlfriend to come and stay. It's too much for you to be worrying about on your own. Maybe you need to have a serious chat with your dad and get him to realise he needs to take responsibilty for himself. This may sound harsh but your dad is not an old man. You have your own life to live!!

@VivaLaDani13 It's good that she came over last night. Hopefully your dad will learn from this experience and not hang around next time he feels something isn't right. Maybe knowing the effect it has had on you will help in that respect.

@WorDazza Thankfully she stayed last night and will be coming back here again after she's finished work. And again thankfully before he came home he spoke to me on the phone and said he feels bad for all the pressure and stress he has put on others due to all of this. Obviously he isn't exactly thrilled either but he feels bad for having people lose sleep and stress over him. I don't think it's harsh really. Because you are right about this. I will do whatever I can to help out and learn whatever I can but I would hate to be in the position where I felt like I had to take care of every little detail. I hope that sounds the way I wanted it to.

@Hannihar I'm grateful she will be staying with us for awhile. She is at work right now so I'm taking care of him during the day. I will do anything for my dad but it does help having someone else too.
