Good morning. By the time, you know one thing. I'm not in the pool which was my intention this morning.
I got ready for the pool. I went out to take care of the car and decided to come in and let it thaw out inside. When I went back out to check on the progress of my car, the door was locked. The car is running and the doors are locked. The key is in the ignition. The car is locked. I'm not going anywhere.
My son has my spare set of keys. I called him. He can't find them, yet. He called a locksmith, but it would take too long and cost too much, so he's still looking for my keys and looking for a locksmith.
I wanted to go to the pool this morning. The weather is good. It's only 7 F with -4 wind chill. It's downright balmy out there. I didn't even feel cold as I brushed the first layer of snow off the car. However, I'm in the apartment and my car is running and there is nothing I can do until Edgar gets here with my spare set. I gave them to him just in case I wasn't able to drive, as happened in the past when I broke my leg and he was carting me around everywhere.
Well, that's the start to my morning. How is your day going? Thanks for reading.

My son called a locksmith and he paid for it, so I need to pay back my son. I kept my eyes on my car. It's fine now. The locksmith got it open and I have my car turned off and the keys hanging on the key holder in my living room.

I'm glad you had a spare key. I'm surprised it happens. It never happened to me before. This was a first.

What a bummer that this happened to you! The same thing happened to me a few years ago with my work truck. However, I was able to get another employee to run back to the office and pick up my spare key. It took maybe 30 minutes total.
The doors in my personal truck will not lock with the key in the ignition and the truck running/idling. It's a nice feature that many new vehicles have.

You need to have one extra made, so you have one to open the door, and in your purse if that ever happens again.

I should, but I don't plan on being separated from my keys again. I'll stay in the car while it's warming up.

That is not a good start. Hopefully he can find the key soon so you can get into your car. -22F here so far from balmy in our area. Hope your day gets better.

Oh that bites! I've locked myself out of my car, probably 3 times - never running though. What I've done now is made copies of my car's door key, and I have a spare in my place, and in my wallet.

@FayeHazel I gave my son the spare set because several years ago I couldn't drive - broken leg - and he needed to. Until this incident, I haven't needed the spare set for this car.

that's bad. Today I refilled the bird feeder. It's been raining alot and I haven't be able to refill it. Now Lily (my black cat) can watch bird tv again!! Me and Lily walked around the house. I need to get her fit for her vet appointment next month. It was a little chilly this morning.

It was so strange. I'm still trying to figure out how it happened, and no, I'm not going to repeat the steps. I don't have money to waste on a locksmith.
