A treat from my childhood

A few nights ago, I just really didn't know what I wanted to eat. We had our main meal around 2pm as usual, and later have something light. I think I fixed my husband a hamburger. Or maybe a can of clam chowder? Anyway, I finally decided to fix some cinnamon toast for myself. My mother used to fix that for us when I was younger. You might eat something similar, but I just used two slices of white bread, spread butter on one side, then sprinkled brown sugar and lots of cinnamon on it. Put in under the broiler until the brown sugar had melted. It was sooooo good! Probably not the healthiest with all that sugar, but sometimes you just gotta go for something yummy. Have you ever had cinnamon toast?

My method with cinnamon toast is to melt butter in a pan then sprinkle in cinnamon and sugar When it is all combined I add white bread and heat on both sides. The bread soaks in the butter and spices.

I have not, but I am sure it's very good. Sometimes I saute in a pan some slices of apple with brown sugar and I sprinkle cinnamon on them.

Yes, my mother used to make it, and I've make it for my kids. Only difference is that I use whole wheat or multigrain bread. Yummy!

Toast with butter and sugar (with or without cinnamon) was a favourite of mine as a child too!
