Where's my hammer!

OK, I wouldn't actually use a hammer on my new printer but believe me I have certainly considered it over the past couple of days! Why? Because the damned thing refused to connect to my laptop! Yes, I know, that probably says more about my technical abilities than it does about my printer or my laptop but why-oh-why does it have to be so complicated? What's wrong with simply plugging it in and having it work? I thought computers and technology in general were supposed to make life easier not harder? I did eventually get it working but that's two hours (yes, two whole hours!) of my life I will never see again. There are times I really miss the good old days of typewriters and snail mail!

Sometimes there is unknown problem occurred. Try to reinstall the printer drive software to see whether this problem can be solved.

@ThreeTeddies It is much more reliable to connect by USB cable.

@youless In the end I gave up on the Wi-Fi connection and the printer and laptop are now connected by USB cable and working properly

Our printer gets a bee in its bonnet from time to time and will print page after page landscape instead of portrait - or vice versa - it doesn't seem fussy in that regard. So annoying.

@TiarasOceanView Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I had to download the printer driver from the Canon site to get it to work but that wasn't as straightforward as it should be because, for some reason, my laptop kept telling me that it didn't recognise the printer! Just as well I couldn't find my hammer!

I use a personal computer since 1979, can you believe that every time the problem has been "the printer"! Things are even worse in our days.

I know how you feel. The only thing that makes it better for me is we have two grown kids who are our tech support.

@1creekgirl We have two grandkids who are out tech support! It's really embarrassing when a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old know more about tech stuff than we do!

@ThreeTeddies I know how you feel. Our 4 year old is coming this weekend. When she was a baby in her car seat, I gave her my cell phone to play with and she downloaded over 40 apps!

Yes, technology can be nerve-wracking, but I will never miss the typewriter. We weren't close friends in the best of times.

My printer will not always connect to my laptop. Then other days it prints on the first try.

'We got a HP printer that did that to us, my husband was so angry! After two days trying, he simply exchanged for another one at the store, and that one worked fine (the same model!).
