Diary Friday 1st March 2019 The Doctors

I’ll do the diary entries for earlier in the week later but as many readers and friends have shown support during my distress over how my medical review and test results might turn out, I can now say it went much better than expected. You may recall that my blood samples were taken nearly two weeks ago with news that the results were in reaching me last week but that I’d be told the results today. This left me worried for the week about what might come of it all, especially as I never got the results of previous tests a year ago. When I asked I was told that the results must be good as they only tell patients if the news is bad. In fact, the news was good. My bloods are fine, so I don’t have Diabetes or cholesterol problems. As I expected my blood pressure is still very high, and I finally got some medications to help reduce this (I was told a year ago that I’d be monitored to see what to give me, but despite my requests for when I’d get the monitoring, it never happened and my blood pressure has free-wheeled since). My nurse did put me on some medication and advises me to cut down severely on carbohydrates (whichis currently about 80% of what foods I have in the cupboard, namely bread and pasta). Though many have told me I have lost weight lately I found that I have actually gained and currently weigh 20 stone, which really needs chopping down. I got myself enrolled on a new service enabling me to directly access my own medical records, which will hopefully help stop them leaving me in the dark in future. I got my meds from the chemist, took the first dose right away, paid some bills, caught up on my job search. Youtube – Peter Sellers & Sophie Loren – Goodness Gracious Me Arthur Chappell

I'm glad the results have relieved your anxiety about your health. Hopefully you'll be able to make some changes to help with the weight.

I am glad that your bloods are fine. I think that high blood pressure could be hereditary. My great grandmother had, my grandmother too as well as my mother. I got from my father, mine is very low.

Glad your blood is ok, but that's not good news about the pressure. Hope the meds can reduce it.

Happy that your bloods came back negative. My GP surgery keep trying to ring me for a blood test, but I don't need one. Eventually I will have to answer the phone, but I just hate talking on the phone!
