I have already given a diary entry for Friday 1st March, and this features covers the other dates I have yet to write up.
Diary Monday 25th February 2019
A day so quiet I barely remember it. I committed the crime of laundry laundering, though apparently doing actual laundry isn’t a crime like money laundering. The rest of the day involved watching TV.
Diary Tuesday 26th February 2019
Community centre discount food collection day, and a chance to catch up with friends in the area.
Diary Wednesday 27th February 2019
The first of two voluntary work days, involving chatting to new university students about the role the volunteer team do and letting them know we will be providing support in some of their lessons.
The students were given a free hot lunch for this, which I and the other volunteer assigned were invited, but in talking to the students as they dined we never noticed the food supply run out, but our supervisor kindly rushed some food in for us from the main canteen which was really kind of her.
Diary Thursday 28th February 2019
Another voluntary work assignment, starting early in the day, and this one led to some confusion. I headed to the study room, where I was met by a tutor who explained what I would be doing. Two students (a third dropped out due to illness) were being tested on heir patient care with a frighteningly realistic dummy, which when activated, breathed, blinked and had a pulse. My job was to be the dummy patient’s father (me being a big dummy myself). I had a set of written responses to give to the trainee medics as they explained my son’s asthma to me. Both students did really well.
The dummy of my son reminded me of the evil Autons, plastic shop dummies that come to life in some Doctor Who stories. See the Youtube of them here.
Afterwards I went to the volunteer office to claim my expenses which is where the confusion kicked in. A tutor expecting me had phoned in to say I hadn’t arrived. The team co-ordinator had just assumed I was absent until I walked in for my travel expenses. I had somehow ended up in the wrong class, with another tutor running the same tests. I should have been a few doors further down the same corridor.
I got paid my welfare today and spent the remains of the last day of the shortest month paying bills.
Diary Saturday 2nd March 2019
Having been told to reduce by carbohydrate intake, I went to the library looking up which foods I can and can’t eat. Fish, fruit, nuts, cheese and eggs etc. are fine. Potato, pasta and rice are bad for me apparently, and I love those.
I bought some soups, used the library in general, wrote some publicity information for my book launch, and came home.

The Autons have awoken from their slumber and are breaking out from shop windows across the city, striking down all who cross their path. Subscribe: http://b...
