A Doll Like Me

Did you see this in the news? A socialworker, Amy Jandrisevitis, in New Berlin, Wisconsin came up with an idea to help children who have physical issues such as lack of a arm or leg, etc. She had used such therapy in her work and thought it would be nice for a child to have a doll with physical deformity like themselves to play with. "so kids can play in a world that looks like them." Amy has been doing this since 2015.

I think I have heard something of it. I think it's wonderful what people will do for others. I've heard of people with 3D printers designing and making things for the less fortunate. One man made a little chihuahua with only two legs.. He made it a wheel chair type thing.

@celticeagle So glad that there are good people in the world. I've always known it, but we don't often hear about it.

What a great idea. It's the best way to show to kids with problems that they are not different.

This reminds me of that short story of a mom who brought home a three-legged puppy for her son... This makes me really happy. Thanks for sharing.

I bet they did. Having something that shows them they aren't alone is great.

It's wonderful. I haven't seen these dolls. I like how more businesses are putting in special needs merchandise.
