Should schools ban cartwheels and handstands?

I was just remembering something I saw on the news quite some time ago. I forget where this was happening exactly but it's somewhere in Australia. Schools were or are banning children from doing any cartwheels or handstands for they are “too dangerous."
I know that children are quite prone to hurting themselves but I'm not sure how I feel about banning a fun thing. Technically children are capable of getting hurt in almost any outside event that takes place.
What are your thoughts on this? Have you heard anything similar where you're from?

@Mavic123456 lol hey if we can handle crocs, snakes and sharks, pretty sure we can handle ankle bitters haha!
I don't know if children are allowed to sue here. Never heard of a case before but who knows. Probably does happen.

@Mavic123456 I was wondering why I was having deja vu earlier! Your first comment had me thinking I've heard this before and I remember now that we have spoken about this before. I don't know how I feel about children being able to sue their parents! BUT I do believe that if children are being mistreated then something should be done. But not taking money away. Sometimes I really do not understand why taking money away from people is how things can get fixed.
If it's because someone has damaged your stuff then I see the point. But otherwise, I feel more things should be done to help the situation and not sue for money.

@VivaLaDani13 I would just climb walls and try balance over two parallel walls. I remember I tried that with two sitting benches in my school ( I was in Kindergarten) and I split the space between my eyebrows open.
I still wear my battle scar.

@LadyDuck Well said! This makes me think about an interview I saw ages ago with Jackie Chan. He explained how he didn't really console his child in a loving way if they were to fall and hurt themselves. Not because he was trying to be mean but because whenever he saw his wife quickly run to their child and hug him/her ( I forget if he had a son or daughter ), the child would cry even more. But if you act less concerned, they don't cry. I don't know if this would be true for all children. I agree with him to some extent but I do know that if I saw a child cry, I would hug them. But I wouldn't want to forever do things that would make them become cowardly. Or make them think that every thing is a huge risk. Because that can make children not want to step out of their comfort zone.

@VivaLaDani13 This is true for all children, you must show them that it's nothing important, or they will cry thinking that the hurt themselves badly. Kids must learn to live in the nature and to take the necessary steps not to hurt themselves. We cannot live inside a crystal ball.

How are we supposed to learn as children if we aren't allowed to try dangerous things or make mistakes? We need to stop babying our children so much. Guess what? If they get hurt doing a cartwheel or handstand, then they'll learn their lesson and not do it again. But let them explore and figure things out for themselves.

@moffittjc Pretty good theory. Who knows. It may be part of it. Would be nice if something could be done for these awful things to stop happening.

@moffittjc Exactly. Criminals are criminals. Why would they suddenly obey the law? If their mind is stuck on being bad, then the first thing they wouldn't do is follow the law.
*Stands up and claps* You're smart. Not many people understand these types of things. Not calling them stupid! They just don't get it.

@andriaperry I would totally have been on board with that when I was in school lol
But no seriously! I agree with you! I really feel like so many things that we need or things that we do for fun ( for both children and adults ) are being taken away from us or altered in a way to cause more havoc.

I have not heard anything about this. I looked online and it seems even a school in Canada banned them. I have never done a cartwheel and if children enjoy them I don't see why the could not do them. I would just say they should be supervised.

@RasmaSandra I agree with you! Banned is just too much but at least being supervised is a great idea! Kinda like swimming pools! Kids can get hurt or drown in a pool but it's a lot safer with an adult around to keep an eye on them.

I think that certain playground games deemed dangerous have been banned in the UK but I don't think it's a blanket ban. I'm sure it's left to individual schools to decide.
I don't remember hearing about anyone banning cartwheels and handstands though.
It used to be the case that schools prepared children for life. Now it seems they are preparing children for life in a protective bubble.

Why not just bubble wrap the children? Or maybe have them wear a designer and stylish protective suite.

@VivaLaDani13 OH OH I know the best solution. They can just skip the whole mating and birthing process. Just develop robots for children. You can repair and even replace missing parts if injured. They will be good as new in no time.

@VivaLaDani13 yeah and robotic incubator kind of thing to replace human womb to grow children is already in the works too. Apparently, it is been developed to save nine months time wasted in growing a child in your body.

That is another step in the coddling and wimpifying of kids. No wonder young people are scared of their own shadows. There is some truth to the cliche "toughen them up."
