I went to the kitchen to pare and put some potatoes to boil. I´ll eat them with a gravy made with yesterday´s leftovers.
Then I turned on the washing machine and came to mylot to see what had happened to the posts where I was writing. For me, posts are not places where I add 'thanks for sharing'. I either say what I think or I don´t say anything.
I had been reading a post that started with a picture of a Canadian talking about American politics. It said that Americans had had a 'Muslim dictator'. That got me wondering.
Who is or was said Muslim? I started by the last President, Mr. Obama. I read a big article and discovered that he is Christian. Will I have to read about all of the American Presidents? Could you enlighten me please?

I read a big biographic article and nowhere does it say that.

I had no idea this ever happened. Obama never once spoke out, about his faith in anything at all. Instead, he spoke about his family and the importance of unity in our nation. He worked hard to bring about financial changes, but Republicans in Congress wouldn't allow his bills to pass through. Thus, most of those things weren't taken care of.

I just read a biography at the Wikipedia and it was very interesting. He does speak about his faith now, explaining how his mother wasn´t a church goer yet she was a spiritual person and other things like that. Personally, I believe that he has been one of the best American Presidents during my lifetime.

@marguicha Obama has been one of the few, who was honest and open about what he was gonna do. He was a wonderful President and a devoted family man, also!

I don't know about American presidents, but we had a great man in Dr. Abdul Kalam. Unbelievably humble and caring man. Honest man. And yes, a Muslim. I do not hold prejudices against any Muslim. I think bad folks need to be condemned rather than a religion.

I don´t think that a religion makes a man. Being humble and caring does.

@marguicha I agree. The President was once traveling to some place and his guards were standing for the entire distance. He called them in and asked them to sit, saying nobody gonna kill me. Tell me how many Presidents of the world can dare to say that.

@vandana7 Not now anyway. We had such a President when I was a teen. He used to go walking to the Moneda (the National working place). He lived nearby, where he had always lived. He did not do to live where Presidents live when he came into office. He would not move from his apartment.

I wholly agree. Even the way it was written, with so many words in capital letters, sounded as if I was being yelled at.

@LadyDuck I agree. And spitting out that President Obama was a Muslim was both racist and untrue. Still, no religion is bad per se.

@marguicha Shouting that someone is a bad person because "Muslim" is pure racism. There are good Muslims there are bad Christians.

I try to learn some. Sometimes I feel I know more than many actual American citizens.

I have never understood why in the US the word Muslim is so dreaded. It is a religion such as Catholicism or Protestantism. There are mostly good Muslims and a few bad Muslims.

@YrNemo And because some Muslim terrorists did awful things 18 years ago all Muslims are bad or terrorists?

@marguicha ah, but some extremist Muslims were behind quite a few cases of terrorisms in the USA. Wasn't September 11 2001 just one of such?
