Pansies are a beautiful flower I like to have in my garden. The only downsize is they are annuals. You have to plant them each year. Unlike perennials, you plant them once, cut them back, and they return the next year.
Not sure why they are called Pansies, they will survive the snow, they are very hardy flowers.
Pansies come in a variety of colors. My neighbor visited earlier and showed me some pansies she bought to plant in her garden. I told her it was a little early to plant as we still have cold weather coming. But she has decided to take a chance and going ahead with her planting.
Sharing a photo of the beautiful little pansies she purchased for her garden.
What about you? Are you waiting until all the cold weather before you plant a garden? Hoping you all had a great day.

I do not have these flowers in the yard, I did not consciously plant it because it looks so gentle, I think it would kill him even rain.

@CarolDM Yes, those are my favorite coloured ones too.
My Dad's birthday was on May 2nd, and I usually try to plant some pansies on his birthday. He was a farmer, so I plant flowers on his birthday as a tribute, I try to get a little dirt under my nails for my beloved Farmer Daddy.

Pretty flowers. I am waiting as we could get a hard freeze yet for a couple more months.

@CarolDM I laughed at the neighbor a few years ago. She planted a lot of her vegetable garden by the middle of May. I had bought a lot of plants by then but still had them all setting on a flat bed trailer. The weather called for a hard frost. One tarp and my plants were protected. Then we sat laughing while her and her husband were covering each row.

They are really lovely flowers. No garden to plant in but I want to plant some flowers in a pot to put on my porch. I sill have not decided what flowers but I also know I will plant some catnip.

In CT, pansies are doomed to die at this time of year. Our son FaceTimed with us a bit earlier and showed us something popping up from his wood chips and asked us what it was. We had no idea. lol. This will be his first spring in his new house, so I'm sure he will have lots of questions for us about flowers.

I heard you can eat the flowers, I have not tried them, yet. I love flowers but I am now more into food plants and I let the perennials I have bring me joy this year, oh wait! I have marigolds and sunflowers to plant.

I love pansies and plant them just about every year. It is still too early for them in Connecticut.

I love pansies. The flowers look like they are made out of velvet.
