Did you know that today is International Pie Day?

I just heard that today is international Pie Day! I hadn't known until I heard it on the radio. What's that you say? It's not International Pie Day? It's International Pi Day? A day for math nerds to celebrate how many digits of Pi they can remember? And to celebrate mathematics in general? Oh snap! Sorry about that. Well, let me think. We all remember that Pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. But how many digits of Pi can you recite from memory? And what is your favorite kind of pie, in case you don't remember Pi beyond "three point something..."? I love pecan pie and banana or coconut cream pie. Spoiler alert: I'll put my answer way down low in this post. But see how many digits you can remember without looking it up! Can you out-nerd The Horse? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.141592654.

Do you remember it from math class? I suppose I'd use it if I had to compute how much pie crust batter to make based on the width of the pan.

@TheHorse Not really, but I am old now. what I do is make the crust and what hangs over use a knife to trim then make a design with my fingers.

@TheHorse If I ever manage to travel across sharks, and survive earthquakes, tornadoes and forest fires to check on you, will you let me taste your favorite cakes at your expense..decent helpings. I have no issues with looking bulky. I live my life on my terms. :)

Damn! Outnerded by a quadraped by one digit!! Didn't someone recently calculate pi to one trillion decimal places? Favourite savoury pie - vegetable balti. Favourite sweet pie - apple and blackberry. I think our pies differ from your pies. Ours have pastry lids. Your pies are more what we would call a tart. My favourite nerdy thing: What is the volume of a pizza with radius z and depth a? Volume = area x depth = Volume = pi * radius squared x depth = Volume = pi * z * z * a = Volume = pizza

@TheHorse What like...sigh...he revealed pizza upfront... sigh... what is the volume of a cylindrical object with radius z and depth a.. these Brits think Indians need to be spoon fed.

You know something funny? Math teachers can make math interesting, or scary. Subject by itself is quite interesting.

I just checked. 22/7 is a good approximation, but it does not represent the same number in absolute terms. It starts to wander off after 3.14.

I only knew because I have read it when I received the payment from myLot. We do not write the date as Americans, I suppose it's only a "National Pi Day". I only remember the first 4 decimals, my husband remembers all, I hate maths.

@TheHorse Let's say he remember the first five series of decimals,it's good that I remember 4 of the first series. Nobody can remember all just because it goes on forever.

I remember when the entire school would freak out about Pi day. It was great haha Sadly, we did not get to celebrate this year with pie because my mom had no idea that it was Pi day haha I could like...measure something but I don't feel like doing that.

I don't have that much of a sweet tooth, so I prefer 3.141592654. But I do enjoy certain pies, as long as milk or coffee are around.
